About Us

Independent Coating Inspection for Water Infrastructure

Douglass Inspection Services provides independent coating inspection and quality assurance services focused on water tanks and elevated water towers. Our work supports municipalities, utilities, engineers, and owners by helping ensure coating systems are installed in accordance with project specifications and perform as intended over their full service life.

We specialize exclusively in inspection and quality control—maintaining independence from contractors and coating manufacturers to deliver objective, reliable oversight.

Experience That Matters

With professionals with more than 30 years of experience in industrial and water infrastructure projects, our background includes extensive work with steel tanks, potable water systems, and long-term corrosion protection programs. This experience allows us to recognize potential issues early, verify compliance at critical stages, and provide clear documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Our approach is practical, detail-oriented, and grounded in real-world field experience.

Certifications & Standards

All inspection services are performed by certified professionals with advanced knowledge of protective coatings, surface preparation, and quality control practices. Inspections are conducted in accordance with applicable project specifications and recognized industry standards established by AMPP (formerly NACE / SSPC).

This ensures consistency, accountability, and defensible inspection documentation for owners and engineers.

Focus on Water Tanks & Water Towers

Water storage infrastructure presents unique challenges, including long service-life expectations, regulatory requirements, and public health considerations. Our inspection services are tailored specifically to these assets, with careful attention to surface preparation, coating application, environmental conditions, and final acceptance criteria.

Whether supporting new construction, maintenance recoating, or warranty verification, our goal is to help owners protect their investment and extend asset life.

Our Approach

  • Independent, third-party inspection

  • Clear and concise reporting

  • Strict adherence to specifications

  • Professional communication with contractors and owners

  • Documentation suitable for municipal and engineering review

We believe that effective inspection is not just about identifying deficiencies, but about supporting successful project outcomes.

Commitment to Owners and Communities

Reliable water infrastructure is essential to the communities it serves. Our work is driven by a commitment to quality, accountability, and long-term performance. By providing thorough, standards-based inspection services, we help owners make informed decisions and reduce lifecycle costs.

Coating Inspection Services

In-Process Coating Inspection
$0.00

Continuous, independent inspection throughout all phases of a coating project. In-process inspection verifies that surface preparation, materials, environmental conditions, application methods, and curing fully comply with project specifications and manufacturer requirements.

This level of inspection provides the highest degree of quality assurance and is the most reliable method for achieving the intended service life of water tank and water tower coating systems.

Hold Point & Witness Inspections
$0.00

Hold point inspections provide targeted oversight at predetermined stages of the coating process. The inspector observes critical milestones such as surface preparation acceptance, lining or coating application, and final inspection.

This approach offers cost-effective quality control while still documenting compliance at key points. Assurance is limited to the observed conditions at each hold point, and full in-process inspection is recommended for critical or long-term assets.

Surface Preparation Inspection
$0.00

Inspection and verification of abrasive blasting, cleaning methods, surface profile, cleanliness, and substrate condition prior to coating application.

Proper surface preparation is essential for coating performance and long-term corrosion protection, particularly in potable water service environments.

Coating Application & Thickness Verification
$0.00

Monitoring of coating mixing, application techniques, recoat intervals, and curing conditions. Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurements are taken to confirm compliance with project specifications and manufacturer requirements.

All inspections are documented to support acceptance and long-term maintenance planning.
